He continues his work on skill-based mathematics education (relating, problem solving, problem setting, and estimation skills), learning mathematics through fun activities, and productive artificial intelligence literacy.
How Can We Utilize Artificial Intelligence in Mathematics Education?
“Selected Tools and Sample Applications”
Purpose of the Workshop
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce mathematics teachers and mathematics education researchers to how artificial intelligence-based tools can be used effectively and consciously in mathematics teaching processes. The workshop aims to enable participants to experience the potential of generative artificial intelligence tools in producing mathematical content, designing problems, developing teaching materials, and supporting learning processes. It will also create a forum for discussion on how artificial intelligence can be pedagogically positioned in mathematics teaching and how it can be integrated into teaching processes.
Target Audience
- Mathematics teachers
- Researchers working in the field of mathematics education
- Prospective mathematics teachers
- Educators interested in educational technologies and artificial intelligence applications
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify potential areas of application for artificial intelligence technologies in mathematics education,
- Recognize selected artificial intelligence tools that can be used in mathematics teaching,
- Be able to develop math problems, activities, and teaching materials using artificial intelligence tools,
- Be able to adapt artificial intelligence-supported teaching applications to their own teaching contexts,
- Be able to discuss the pedagogical and ethical dimensions of using artificial intelligence
is expected.
Duration and Format
Total Duration: 90 minutes
The workshop will consist of the following stages:
- Theoretical Framework and Short Presentation: A general framework regarding artificial intelligence applications in mathematics education will be presented; the areas of application and potential of generative artificial intelligence tools in teaching processes will be discussed.
- Application Activities: Participants will carry out short applications on generating mathematical problems, designing activities, and developing teaching materials using selected artificial intelligence tools.
- Discussion and Sharing: Participants will share their examples and discuss their experiences and opinions on the use of artificial intelligence tools in mathematics teaching.
- Feedback and Evaluation: Participant feedback on the workshop process will be collected, and suggestions for the future use of artificial intelligence in mathematics education will be discussed
