Fatoş Tunay YARMAN VURAL

Biyografi

Fatoş T. YARMAN VURAL received her B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 1973, her M.S. degree from Boğaziçi University in 1975, and her Ph.D. degree from Princeton University in 1982. After working at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Institute between 1982 and 1985, she served as a visiting faculty member and researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Drexel University from 1985 to 1987. Between 1987 and 1992, she worked as the General Manager of Yapıtel AŞ.  Fatoş T. Yarman Vural, ikisi İngilizce olmak üzere üç kitabın yazarıdır.

In 1992, Fatoş T. Yarman Vural joined the Department of Computer Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU). She served as the Head of the Department between 1996 and 2000 and as an Advisor to the Rector between 2000 and 2008. Between 2004 and 2007, she represented Türkiye on  NATO Research Panel. Throughout her academic career, she organized more than 100 scientific meetings and published around 200 national and international journal articles and conference papers in the fields of Computer Vision, Image Processing, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and the Human Brain. She is the author of three books, one is in Turkish and the other two is in English.

Fatoş T. Yarman Vural is the mother of Derviş Can Vural and the spouse of Hüseyin Vural.
