Professor Ziya SELÇUK is one of Türkiye’s leading educators and academics. Born in Ankara in 1961, he earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Guidance and Psychological Counseling at Gazi University Faculty of Education. He began his academic career at Gazi University, serving as a faculty member for many years. From 2003 to 2006, he chaired the Board of Education and Discipline at the Ministry of National Education, spearheading reforms to modernize educational programs and promote student-centred approaches.
In 2018, he was appointed Minister of National Education, during which he launched numerous initiatives to enhance teachers’ professional development and ensure equity in education. A pioneer in digital transformation and innovative teaching methods in education, SELÇUK is well-known for his work on “Multiple Intelligences Theory,” the “Mastery Learning Model,” and his books Çoklu Zekâ Kuramı (The Theory of Multiple Intelligences), Tam Öğrenme Modeli (The Mastery Learning Model), and Kırk Kere Söyledim-Bölünmüş Dünya (I’ve Said It Forty Times – A Divided World).
As a co-founder of TED University Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Ziya SELÇUK continues to inspire through his participation in various educational conferences as a keynote speaker.
He is married and the father of three children.
