Professor Jessica ASPFORS

Åbo Akademi University, Finland

Professor Jessica Aspfors completed her master’s degree in education in 2002 and her doctoral degree in 2012 from the Faculty of Education at Åbo Akademi University, Finland. Following her dissertation, she began her academic career as an Associate Professor in Education at the Faculty of Education and Arts at Nord University in Norway. In 2017, she was promoted to Professor of Education at the same faculty, a position she has held since. Since 2019, she has also served as a Senior Lecturer (Docent) at the Faculty of Education and Welfare Studies at Åbo Akademi University, Finland.

In her roles in both Norway and Finland, Professor Aspfors teaches and supervises students at the master’s and doctoral levels. Her research interests include research-based teacher education, the induction and mentoring of newly qualified teachers, and teachers’ professional learning. She has been actively involved in many national and international research projects. For many years, she has been a member of the international research network Pedagogy, Education and Praxis (PEP). Recently, she has participated in projects focusing on the master’s thesis and the transition of knowledge from science to practice.

Professor Aspfors has a solid publication record, including scientific articles, book chapters, and conference presentations at both national and international levels.
